Pretty Packaging II

- Continued from yesterday-

I'm in the process of moving, and so I'm spilling some of my decorating and storage secrets from the past two years. While some of these ideas I will undoubtedly keep, I am excited to see what I come up with as I move my stuff to a new place.

1. bottles of nailpolish to hold and display bangles
2. a dvd case to hold the rest of my nailpolish collection (and makes for easy transportation to a sink or table while still showcasing colors)
3. a square basket to hold my sandals
4. a Sephora shopping bag to hold sunnies and a striped lid to hold belts
5. and, possibly my favorite, Express shopping bags to hold unmentionables

Pretty Packaging

I'm in the process of moving away from what's been "home" for the past two years, and my place is a wreck. But it hasn't always been so.

When it comes to my room, I believe everything should have a place, yet I like to have items such as nailpolish, bangles, cute little shopping bags and festive boxes on display. Apartment living and a college-kid budget as left me with little space to make my room a giant display case, an even smaller budget and no chest of drawers. Yet I’ve enjoyed decorating under such conditions much more than I ever have before. Here are some of my shining achievements of decorating success. I’ll reveal more ideas tomorrow, so be sure to come back.

1. the obvious: a jewelry box to hold secret treasures
2. a PINK gift box to hold headphones, chargers and iPod accessories
3. a little baggie, originally for extra bra straps, to hold my iPod
4. and a perfume box to hold spare buttons

Black and White and Cool All Over

White on white. I would argue that this look is possibly the best monochrome style possible. The incredible simplicity is incredibly chic. And as with all monochromatic schemes, an amazing array of looks can be created by simply altering the accessories. I used black, gold and leopard to style this casual, summer look. I also layered my necklaces to add dimension to the simple v-neck. The overall result? A cool yet fashion-forward look that appears both trendy and effortless.

Naked Nails

Trend report: nude nails.

Go chic and try a nail color that gives the appearance of a naked nail. It will give your hands or feet a fresh and glam update. Plus, it lets your shoes do the talking. Aim for a color that blends well with your skin tone, such as Aldo’s Top of the Class.

Collared Greens

{the baby collar}

I have always felt out of the loop when it comes to women’s polos. They’ve always fit me impossibly. Maybe it’s me. Maybe it’s the polo. Or maybe we are just a match never to be made.

I recently decided to give the polo a second chance, as my boyfriend is attempting (attempting being the key word - my hand-eye skills are majorly lacking) to teach me the sport of golf. [For those of you who are unaware, most golf clubs require collared shirts]. I quickly gave up once again on the polo; after all these years it remains highly unflattering on me. Instead, I have found alternative styles - all collared - that gain me entrance onto the greens while also being of much more use in my daily dress.
